Rick Eckert Rallies to Fourth in Delaware State Dirt Track Championship; EAMS Next

(YORK, PENNSYLVANIA) Rick Eckert hooked back up with Paul Crowl's team to compete in the annual 'Delaware State Dirt Track Championship' from October 18-20 at the Delaware International Speedway in Delmar, Delaware. On Friday night, Rick started fourth in his heat race and wound up fifth in his prelim. After a rain-out of Saturday's action, the $5,000 to win feature event wrapped up the long weekend on Sunday.

"Scrub" fought power steering problems and a tight racecar, but was able to duck into the pits on a couple of different occasions to fix those issues throughout the 50-lapper. Rick eventually stormed back through the field to salvage a strong fourth place effort behind only race winner Ricky Elliott, Austin Hubbard, and Donald Lingo, Jr. Full results from DIS can be viewed online at www.delawareracing.com.

The York, Pennsylvania star has decided to take the upcoming October 25-26 weekend off from Dirt Late Model competition, but his #24 team will be actively preparing their equipment for the rapidly-approaching ‘National 100.’ The East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama will play host to the 39th edition of the ‘National 100’ from November 1-3. A special Race of Champions will kick things off on Friday night at EAMS, while qualifying and heat races are scheduled for Saturday. The B-Mains and 100-lap main event will then wrap up the action-packed weekend on Sunday.

A $20,000 top prize will be on the line in the unsanctioned race plus $50 per lap for the leader – making the total possible amount to win $25,000. Rick is a two-time winner of the famed ‘National 100,’ as he reached victory lane in back-to-back years in 2004 and 2005.
