Ray Cook Wins Heat Race for National 100; Finishes Seventh at EAMS

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The Ray Cook Racing team traveled to the storied East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, Alabama on November 2-3 for the 39th edition of the 'National 100.' In Super Late Model action, Ray Cook laid down the third quickest lap of the forty competitors during qualifying on Saturday and later took the win in his heat race over Eric Cooley, Shane Clanton, and Jason Hiett. After starting Sunday's $20,000 to win main event from the inside of the second row, Ray struggled on restarts throughout the 100-lap extra-distance affair and eventually notched a seventh place performance.

Behind the wheel of his #53 Crate Late Model, Ray competed for the $5,000 top prize at EAMS. He qualified twentieth fastest during time trials on Saturday, but later took the win in his B-Main on Sunday to transfer into the main event. Unfortunately, he was caught up in a lap two incident and eventually retired from the race in the twentieth position. Complete results from the long 'National 100' weekend can be accessed online at www.eamsdirt.com.

Ray and his self-owned #53 team will sit idle over the upcoming November 8-9 weekend, but will storm back into action on November 15-16 at the Duck River Raceway Park in Wheel, Tennessee. The 2nd Annual ‘Deep Fried 75’ will be held at DRRP next weekend and the unsanctioned event boasts a $10,000 winner’s check. Qualifying and heat races are scheduled for Friday night, while the consolation events and the 75-lap A-Main are slated for Saturday evening. Ray scored a $3,000 Southern Regional Racing Series (SRRS) triumph at Duck River back on June 27.
