Riley Hickman Claims His First Southern All Star Title
FAYETTEVILLE, TN— Riley Hickman of Cleveland, TN., set his sights on one goal as the starts of the 2013 season and that was to win another championship. In 2012 he claimed the SRRS championship and in 2013 he said that we was going run all the regional series for a while then after a few races determine which one he had the best chance to get another championship and after 23 races with the Southern All Star Dirt Racing Series, Hickman found himself on top after he had a a hard fought battle earlier in the year with the 2012 Cruise with the Champions Rookie of the Year Mike Weeks who was close to Hickman each week until Weeks was forced to drop off the tour due to financial troubles. Hickman then just had to stay the course and stay out of trouble and he know he could get his first Southern All Star Championship and add his name to the list of of 19 different drivers who have won the series championship in the past 31 years of racing. Hickman will join the list of first time series championships winners that include Don Hester, Jerry Inmon, James Cline, Mike Head, Dale McDowell, Marshall Green, Mark Miner, Jamie Perry and Billy Ogle Jr.
Hickman drove a CVR Chassis/sponsored by Hickman MFG/American Billet/Competition Racing Equipment/VP Racing Fuel/Austin Trucking/MRC Racing Components/Vic Hill Race Engines/Stealth Race Carburetors/Weld Wheels/FSR/KRC/Felpro/Comp Cams/PPM/Allstar Graphix. Hickman had 8 top 5 finishes and 14 top 10 finishes during the 23 race campaign.
Hickman will be honored along with the other drivers in the top-ten in Championship points will be honored on Saturday Night December 21st at the Bearden Banquet Hall in Knoxville, TN during the annual Awards Banquet at 7:30 pm.
