Ponderosa Speedway’s New Promoter for 2014 is Jerry Denson

Junction City, KY-December 6, 2013- A former track promoter of Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, KY will return to the helm of the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay racing facility in 2014. Jerry Denson of Liberty, KY will take over as promoter of the historic Central Kentucky racing facility as it will begin its 42nd season of operation in 2014.

Denson returns as promoter of the track after previously promoting the track known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” nine years ago. Denson acquired the track from previous track promoters Larry, Chad, and Sarah Yantz as all negotiations were finalized and agreed upon late Thursday evening.

“I’m very excited to be back as promoter of Ponderosa Speedway”, stated Denson in a phone conversation on Friday evening. “I’ve wanted to get the track back since I got out of it nine years ago. We plan to continue to build on the tradition and well-run programs that the Yantz family already has in place at the track and create excitement for the racers and fans and make Ponderosa Speedway the place to race on Friday nights”, Denson added.

The track will continue to operate on Friday evenings and the racing program will consist of Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Sportsman for sure, with a possible fourth division being either a Street Stock or Four Cylinder division.

Track rules will be made available in the very near future and the 2014 racing schedule will also be put out in the coming weeks as well. The track plans on presenting a full racing program of action on Friday evenings throughout the 2014 season.

Three events are already set for the season as the John Bradshaw Memorial race will return to the schedule in the 2014 season, with that event set for Friday August 22 and Late Models will race for $10,000 to win that evening. Also, the traditional Fall Classic doubleheader weekend of racing action will take place on Friday October 10 and Saturday October 11, with divisions and purses to be announced in the upcoming weeks.
