12.7 to 1 is the ratio

now that Ive driven a open wheel car with a sweet box and no quickener, I would NEVER consider racing a oem parts store box again.

i've heard that same thing from everybody that has a sweet box.

This is from memory but I am pretty sure. And the sweet 6/1 or 8/1 box is night and day different and not that much more expensive when you figure the quicker and extra knuckles.

14:1 boxes 77-79 camaro gm #783309
80-81 Camaro gm #7833147

12.7:1 boxes
82-92 Camaro gm #7839897
83-87 Montyss gm#7839897 or 7843135

The Monte is listed as a 12.7:1? I thought the power was 16:1 and the Manual was 24:1 I'm just trying to find out I'm setting up a Monte for someone in the coming weeks It has an S-10 box which i was told was the same, but I'm having a hard time finding the info. He wants to run a quickner just want to know what I am going to be dealing with

So you're just physically checking the OEM boxes?

Interesting they wanted to go with a manual box to save weight because they don't use power steering just loop off the power box, and run the manual with a quicker and 15 or 17" wheel. Looks like we really have to get into this deeper....and not assume the ratio

Yeah this is a pavement he says he wants 12:1 I run 8:1 or quicker on the asphalt mod, the 2:1 quickner is what he wanted to use on what he said was a 24:1 box sometimes you gotta let them try it their way but that class has to run an OE Box, I'll just wait he's never driven asphalt lol
