WAYCROSS, GA (December 9, 2013) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will host its championship awards banquet this Thursday night December 12th at the magnificent Lucas Oil Estate in Carmel, IN. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will honor and celebrate the 2013 season and series champion Jimmy Owens for winning the title. The series will also honor the 2013 JRi Shocks Rookie of the Year - Presented by Dunn-Benson Ford, Billy Moyer Jr., along with the top nine drivers in the series national points’ standings.

Owens won eight Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series events during the 2013 season while capturing his third series title in a row. Owens total earnings on the tour in 2013 will reach over $372,000 after collecting his cash awards at the series banquet on Thursday. Owens’ wins on the series came at East Bay Raceway Park’s (FL) Winternationals in February; Lonestar Speedway (TX) and Hagerstown Speedway (MD) in April; Lucas Oil Speedway (MO) in May; I-80 Speedway (NE) and Roaring Knob Motorsports Complex (PA) in July; Attica Raceway Park (OH) and the “Hillbilly Hundred” at I-77 Motorsports Park (WV) in September. Owens also recorded fourteen (14) Top-Three finishes in 2013 and an impressive thirty-three (33) Top-Ten finishes out of 37 starts on the season.

Steve Francis of Ashland, KY finished in the runner-up position in the series final points’ standings for 2013. Francis won two (2) LOLMDS sanctioned events while recording twenty one (21) top-five finishes and thirty-three (33) top-ten finishes on the series in 2013. His two wins came at Tri-City Speedway in Pontoon Beach, IL on July 12th, and at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN on August 24th.

John Blankenship of Williamson, WV had his best year on the tour in 2013 winning three sanctioned events. Blankenship finishes 3rd in the final series national points’ standings in 2013. Blankenship recorded fifteen (15) top-five finishes and thirty (30) top-ten finishes in 2013 and established himself as a major contender on the series for 2014.

Earl Pearson Jr, of Jacksonville, FL and four-time series champion, 05’, 06’, 07’, and 08’ finished in 4th position in the series final points’ standings of 2013. Pearson ended a two year winless streak on the tour this year recording two wins this season. His wins came at East Bay Raceway Park in Tampa, FL on February 16th and at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, VA on June 22nd. Pearson also recorded fourteen (14) top-five finishes and nineteen (19) top-ten finishes on the series in 2013.

Dennis Erb Jr. of Carpentersville, IL in his first full season on the tour, finished in the 5th position in the series final points’ standings for 2013. Erb recorded four wins in 2013; coming at East Bay Raceway Park on February 11th and 13th, Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on March 23rd, and Swainsboro Speedway in Swainsboro, GA on June 20th. Erb also had ten (10) top-five finishes and twenty (20) top-ten finishes in 2013.

Don O’Neal of Martinsville, IN finished 6th in the final Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings. O’Neal had 3 wins on the tour this season with his first win coming at East Bay Raceway Park on February 15th. O’Neal captured the Sunoco North-South 100 at Florence Speedway on August 10th, and captured his third series win at the Jackson 100 at Brownstown Speedway on September 21st. He had seventeen (17) top-five finishes and twenty-four (24) top-ten finishes on the series in 2013.

Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV finished in 7th place in the series final points’ standings for 2013. Carrier in his first full season competing on the tour had several strong runs in 2013. Carrier captured one win on the series in his home state finding victory lane on April 21st at West Virginia Motor Speedway in Mineral Wells, WV. Carrier also recorded two (2) top-five finishes and fourteen (14) top-ten finishes on the series in 2013.

Jared Landers of Batesville, AR finished 8th in the series final points’ standings. Landers the 2011 LOLMDS Rookie of the Year captured seven (7) top-five finishes and fourteen (14) top-ten finishes on the series in 2013.

Billy Moyer Jr. of Batesville, AR rounds out the top nine in points finishing in 9th place in 2013. He recorded eight (8) top-ten finishes and nineteen (19) top-fifteen finishes on his way to win the JRi Shocks Rookie of the Year-presented by Dunn-Benson Ford.
