What is everyone's opinion on E85 VS Racing fuel? Does E85 burn cooler than racing fuel? What's the octane rating on E85?

I've been using pump E85 since 09 and plan to continue. I didn't notice much difference in water temps compared to gas and had to speed up the water pump a little bit compared to methanol. Around here the pumps say minimum octane rating of 105. One thing to consider is that ethanol content varies during the year. I've found as low as 70 percent in the winter and as high as 87 percent in the summer. Be sure to check your fuel and tune accordingly and you shouldn't have any issues. I've never pushed the compression beyond about 12.8:1 but have heard of people running higher with no issues.

What Carb brand and size do you run Dirtracer? Jet size? I'm switching over to the E85 next year. Any info would be much appreciated. Don't want to waste a motor in the process.

Read a lot of good things about jdr and quick fuel. What ever you do buy a specific e85 carb and test your fuel! In my mustang drag car the fuel test is the key.

We are on E85 on our stock car. We only got couple nights so far really like it. My buddy has ran it on his stock car and struggle with consistency with it. We both run quick fuel E85 carbs.

I think if we find a good source I'm gonna buy a 55 gallon full.

I had a local guy build me a carb out of a 750 holley hp gas carb. It was the first e85 carb he had built and it took a little time on the dyno to get it dialed in but I haven't had to do anything but adjust jets since. I did run a quick fuel e85 carb for a couple of races just to compare to mine and it ran good as well. I can't remember for sure what jets I have in the carb but I will check and post within a couple days.
