Hello Racers! Happy New year!
I have been redeveloping my late model for road racing and I am converting the upper rad hose to -16AN for the simplicity of installation.
I normally run a restrictor - a disassembled thermostat with a one inch hole.
I have had no cooling issues with this setup for years.
I see the -16 hose is 3/4" ID. Should I remove the restrictor and allow the hose and fittings to be the restrictor?
Thanks for the advice.

I think that you will be safe without the restriction. I have an identical setup with the AN 16 and no restriction. Personally I feel that there are so many more valuable criteria such as: correct radiator size and design, water pump speed, fan selection and proper shrouding.

As you state that you have had no issues with this system in the past, your design must be adequate. Run it without the restriction and see what happens. Should be fine.
