Other than cost, what is the difference between the SPORTSMAN and the LATE MODEL intake filters of equal size?

According to Ed at r2c the media in the cheaper filters can be cleaned with air but cannot be washed. he told me their life expectancy was 20-30 races. The $99 filters can be reused as often as you want and washed. I have about 80 shows on one of those filters. I got about 25 out of the sportsman filter before it would not clean out anymore and cost a ton of power.
