Isn't there anywhere you can buy the parts to convert a GM steering box into a 8:1 or 6:1 box?

I have plenty of metric and camaro boxes and I wanted to take a shot at rebuilding one with a faster ratio. I've looked all over the internet and have not found any parts or how-to on doing this.

Must be way more complicated that just replacing parts...

You can get the parts from sweet, they come with a box too!

how much you selling them for? $700 is a lot (for me) for a steering box.

I don't think you will be able to do that yourself, there is a lot that goes into making the box that fast. Why don't you just run a cheaper 16 to 1 and a quickner? A lot cheaper, you just have to get the T bar valving correct to run the quickner.

Dave, What do you recommend for T bar valving?

It depends on what feeling you like for the steering, but I have found anywhere from 170 to 185 with a 2-1 quickner works best for me. You can spin the wheel with one finger. PSC Motorsports (Performance Steering Components) makes some nice box's. They have a 700 series Sportsman box that can be had from 12-1 to 16-1 and any T bar valving you want for 279.00. I have one of there box's in our Modified, its a 600 series (5 Lbs Lighter) its a 16-1 and the T bar is 175, we run a Howe Stealth HD 2-1 quickner, so it comes out to 8-1 final. The steering is effortless.
