Cheaper? Yes.
Safer? No.

A person racing a late model should not have a problem with dropping an extra $400 on a good seat.

Does your containment accept a HANS just curious. Most lower end containment seats I never had much luck with HANS without compromising visibility or something

I used the kirkey ad on kit listed on that link, and it fit very nice.
I am 6'5" 235 lbs, and broad shouldered, and there has not been a standard built full containment seat that I could fit in, unless custom built....which costs a lot of $$$$$ money.
I like it, I would have to say it has to be better than just a regular seat, and no extra protection.

Matt- no. there is much more support/rigidity to mine, nothing flexes or moves. If that is the type you are talking about then yeah I could see where you are coming from. The add on I have is built like a tank with all sorts of stiffening ribs and covers quite a bit more area.
