That #7K above is former USMTS champion Jason Krohn from Slayton, Minnesota. Krohn scored the win last night in the season opener for USMTS after he took the lead on a restart that came after the first 20-laps of the 40-lap A-main went all green.

Corpus Christi, Texas native Steve Whiteaker, Jr. -- who has a USMTS win from I-30 Speedway on his resume -- almost won one for the hometown folks. He led half the race and finished 2nd.

Louisiana racer Cade Dillard had a huge night and Vidor, Texas racer Tracy Denby, Jr. had a good night as well.

Dillard left his Many, LA home on a tight budget. Tight enough that he was hanging on to diesel money just in case and did not buy a USMTS license before the race. His year got off to a great start as he drove the Malfouz Motorsports #97 Express Racecars Chassis Limited Modified to the $1000 victory in their 20-lap feature. Then, Cade started 11th and rallied for a top 5 finish in the CDR #97 Sidebiter Chassis. That paid another $600. Would have been $800 with a license. Cade bought a Gulf Coast Region license with his winnings.

Denby charged his way through the Limited feature to get a 2nd last night and then scored a top ten with USMTS (9th).

Log on TONIGHT and watch drivers from nine states go for $4000 to win in round 2 of the USMTS Gulf Coast Border Region series!
