i have a grt car and was wondering how much travel i should get on the 5th coil shock....... put a new 5th arm on it and only have 4 inches of shaft left at ride height, is this enough shaft?

what does rockets or mastersbuilt or any car travel???

Is the lift arm level and is it a 7" stroke shock?

Like 7up said, make sure it's a 7" stroke shock and make sure the left bar is parallel to the ground at ride height. It should run parallel is your pinion angle is correct which is typically about 7 degrees downhill.

yes everything is set correct on the 5th arm and it is a 7 inch shock

Some thing doesn't sound right to me. I have had GRTs plus several other makes of chassis and not ever had even close to that issue you describe using about a half dozen different lift bar setups. I would like to see some PICS before I said anything more. JMHO

Is it the right mount and now some kinda drop mount on the top? Sounds odd to me? No shock extension and 7" stroke and level lift bar? Is the rest of the ride heights roughed in and set?

That's probably correct. Mine has about the same travel. I know the shock body end mount on different shocks has an effect on this. A old style Afco 13 is a little different than the new style 13 T. I had to adjust my fifth arm some when I upgraded shocks.
