Harrah hired as Senior Technical Inspector for Spring Nationals Series and Southern Nat’s Bonus Races

BRASSTOWN, NC (February 14, 2014)—The Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series by Schaeffer’s Oil and the Southern Nationals Bonus Races are pleased to introduce Jim Harrah of Fayetteville, GA as Senior Technical Inspector for the 2014 season.

Harrah’s extensive background started out as he went to the races at Ohio’s Skyline Speedway with his father, who built the winner’s trophies and handed them out on race night. Harrah began racing in the early 1980’s at the Senoia (GA) Raceway where he finished seventh in his first ever race. He continued racing until the end of the 80’s at the Thomas Family’s East Alabama Motor Speedway until it became too expensive for him to do so. After a stint racing, Harrah hooked up with George Echols and started doing technical inspections for the American Winged Outlaw Sprint Series, now the United Sprint Car Series (USCS).

After a brief period with the Sprints, Harrah received a call of a lifetime. Harrah received a call from veteran promoter Mike Swims to meet with him and legendary announcer Jimmy Mosteller of the Hav-A-Tampa Dirt Racing Series to become the lead technical inspector. He remained in that position until moving to the booth to become the Race Director of the most famous dirt Late Model racing tour in America until the end of the 1996 racing season. In 1998 Harrah got married and raced off and on for the next few years at Seven Flags Speedway, Whitesburg, GA and even helped with renovations that made Senoia, GA back to a dirt track. In 2012 Harrah joined the World of Outlaws Late Model Series and served as their lead Technical Inspector and served with them nearly a year and a half.

‘I want to say it’s a great opportunity and I’m looking forward to working the Spring Nationals and the Southern Nationals Bonus Races. I think what you all have going on here is good for every racer, not just the ones racing on the national level,’ stated an excited Jim Harrah.

Harrah will serve as lead Technical Inspector for the 10-race Spring Nationals Series as well as the Southern Nationals Bonus Races which kick off on March 1 & 2 at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC. The Saturday March 1 race will pay $3,000 to win while the Sunday March Madness finale event pays $10,000 to the winner. The Spring Nationals kick off March 14 & 15 at Volunteer (TN) Speedway for the Spring Thaw Weekend which pay $4,000 and $10,000 respectively.

‘It’s going to be an exciting year with all three tours and we couldn’t ask for a better guy to have running technical inspection in the pits. I had Jim come down and handle tech. last year at the Deep Fried 75 at Duck River and we really worked great together, he’ll do an outstanding job helping us this year’ stated Series Publicist and Bonus Races director Chris Tilley.
