I have a Dart Lil M block that had some rods let go last year. One of the rods smacked the oil pain rail and cracked the oil pan rail up about an inch. I was told by the machine shop that sleeved/bored the block to hard block it to at least an inch above the crack (which would be just above the bottom of the freeze plugs), v the crack and JB weld the crack. He said to ONLY use Hard Block, which would set me back about $100. Moroso makes a block filler that is about $17 a gallon.

1) Do you agree with what the machine shop said? (He says it will not overheat)
2) Is the Moroso stuff any Good? How many gallons to fill what I need?
3) Any better Ideas?

~Thanks~

Just have to watch the oil temp. Anytime you do a short fill it wont affect the water temp but can affect oil temp. I would use the hardblok its basically hydraulic cement and is waterproof but I think being cracked already you are taking a chance for water leaks.

I would fix it with irontite repair plugs and not use the hard block. Just install the plugs and pressure test the block. wisdirtfan is right on as far as the oil temp will need a oil cooler with a filled block.
