stock metric, i want to cut the rf stock upper a arm mount(hat)off and use flat stock to replace it. would like to of course lower mount holes and run in line with center line of frame rail. my question is can i also move it out toward the tire, making the a arm shorter? by doing that now my shock end(nut) will be behind the a arm cross shaft and not inside of the triangle of the a arm. it would make my 8 1/2 inch a arm now a 7 inch a arm.... would that mess up the geometry ?

Your geometry wont change moving the mount outboard and using a shorter arm, if you keep your original camber and caster. Your camber gain will be faster. Lowering the mount holes will change things of course. Roll center, and camber gain to a lesser extent. If your shock is in the stock mounting position, it wont care what you do to the upper A arm mount.

you would get a ton of camber gain with a shorter upper, I would want a longer set of uppers if it was legal on a metric street stock
