Hi all new to this forum but not to racing, i was wondering what affects caster change has on a strut car, i have two 82-92 camaro's, one i race on asphalt and one on dirt, just got to thinking about it the other day, what are the caster affects with no upper ball joint.Any oppinions?
Caster isn't about ball joints, it's about spindle inclination. You still have an upper pivot location, it's just in the strut.
Caster split will help turn the car. Caster makes the car drive straight and not dart around. Don't care if it's a straight axle or strut, it does the same thing.
You may actually see a way different caster/camber gain/loss amount than a conventional lower/upper a-frame car because your mounting points are so far apart and the upper mount moves so far compared to a car with an upper a-frame. It would be interesting to put a caster/camber gauge on and check it thru body roll and map what it does.
