Thinking of trying and running all the nights of the frostbuster in Iowa. What gear for an Open motor with a mod at Oski, Marshalltown, Boone and Vinton?

yep 2 link Beatrice and Hays..

I wonder if Brandon called him crazy like he did me when I told him I wanted to run a sportmod car in the modified class?

Why not hit the chip half way down the straights? It works for the 440 hp alum head roller motor!

I wonder if Brandon called him crazy like he did me when I told him I wanted to run a sportmod car in the modified class?Definetly not crazy at all, last year at Septemberfest, Tyler Frye was nearly a second faster than the top A mods at the end of the night. He was running mid 19's at Beatrice and the A mods were all over 20 seconds. That is one of the big reasons I want to go A mod this year. They are not any faster than the sport mods on the slick. Also most cars push the nose in the middle of the corner.

Whats an A mod?

Its easy to be faster when your going around in circles by yourself!

Whats an A mod? Have you been spending time with super Dave? :) By A mod, I meant an IMCA modified as opposed to an IMCA sport modified we ran last year.

When the crate was allowed in the modified I wanted to try one in a straight sport mod. to me the easier suspension would be worthwhile..

That said my 4 4 car goes fine and seems to work well so not sure ill try 2 link. I did get a spare rearend last year so I could set it up and try it but haven't gotten around to messing with it.

I just want to race and have fun, not reinvent the wheel.

Alright I have heard recommendations from as low as 4.86 (with crate I assume) up to 5.14. Has anybody ran there with a 5.29 before in a mod or close to it?
