Ponderosa Speedway Set for 42nd Annual Season Opener on Saturday April 5
Junction City, KY-March 29, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff are set to kick off the 2014 racing season at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the track’s 42nd Annual Season Opener will take place on Saturday April 5.
The opening event of the 2014 season will take place on Saturday April 5, as will the following week’s event on Saturday April 12, before action returns to the traditional Friday evening of racing beginning on Friday April 18 with the 2nd Annual Spring Showdown for Ray Cook’s Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals presented by Schaeffer Racing Oil.
The Saturday April 5 racing program will be the 42nd Annual Season Opener and will see all five weekly divisions in action. The Super Late Models will race for $1,000 to win, Pro Late Models will race for $500 to win (12 or more entries; $300 to win with 11 or less entries), and Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $700 to win. The Sportsman division will be racing for $400 to win at the season opener, while the newly added Pure Street division will race for $200 to win. RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration, with all drivers needing to be signed at the time for the drivers meeting that evening at 6:15 p.m.

Pro Late Models (20 laps): (12 or more cars)- 1st- $500, 2nd- $250, 3rd- $200, 4th- $150, 5th- $125, 6th- $100, 7th- $95, 8th- $90, 9th- $85, 10th- $80, 11th through 18th- $75 to start; (11 or less entries)- 1st- $300, 2nd- $200, 3rd- $100, 4th- $90, 5th- $80, 6th through 11th- $75 to start.
Modifieds (20 laps): 1st- $700, 2nd- $350, 3rd- $250, 4th- $225, 5th- $200, 6th- $175, 7th- $150, 8th- $130, 9th- $120, 10th- $110, 11th through 18th- $100 to start.
Sportsman (20 laps): 1st- $400, 2nd- $200, 3rd- $150, 4th- $125, 5th- $100, 6th- $90, 7th- $80, 8th- $70, 9th- $60, 10th- $55, 11th through 18th- $50 to start.
Pure Street (15 laps): 1st- $200, 2nd- $100, 3rd- $90, 4th- $80, 5th- $70, 6th- $65, 7th- $60, 8th- $55, 9th- $50, 10th- $40, 11th through 18th- $30 to start.
Activities for the 42nd Annual Season Opener event on Saturday April 5 will see the general admission area and pit area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will take place at 6:00 p.m., with practice laps set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Time trials will get underway at 7:00 p.m., with racing set to take the green flag between 7:45 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the April 5 season opening event in the general admission will be only $12 for adults, while children ages 12 and under will be admitted FREE with a paid adult. A pit pass will be $30.
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY.
