we started taking tire temps coming off the track. trying to gather info but not sure how to interpet.
our right rear has been running about 25 degrees higher then left. are we trying for equal temps or more difference or what. any thoughts or info welcomed. or are we wasting time and effort. with the 25 degree difference we are lacking side bite and therefore forward bite. was thinking of trying to get equal temp thru different setups.

Your rr tire is working harder and probably giving up. Do things to more heavily load the lr and don't load the rr do hard.

We spent a lot of time tracking tire temps.

We learned that a tire that hits a puddle, or even more moisture in the track than another tire will throw temps all over the place. If the driver hits any moisture with the right side it will be cooler than the left by time you get to take a temp. Spinning the rear tires will ruin any rear readings as they will both generally (but not always) heat up more than normal with no rear bite.

After a couple years watching trends, we decided that was all you could do, watch trends on a dirt track. If your right side tire is in the cushion and the left side on the slick, they will read different no matter what you have done with setup because they are not running on/in the same material.

We learned more about camber than anything else. Watch for a trend across the tread face and work on your camber and you will probably end up with some surprising camber setups. When we worked on that, we had a car that turned in a lot better. You can also find a bent axle tube watching camber style temps on the rear. If one side changes across the tread face suddenly from one week to the next (with the same stagger) you may have a bent rear tube. Also pay attention to rear camber.

very good post lm14, about all I check any more is right front, with these bump stops and two stage right front set ups these days, you have to think outside the box sometimes....
