Shock drop

Does anyone know the proper way to set the shock drop on the lr. Car is a underslung Harris.

My shock guy told me let rearend hang or jack under seat so lr is at full drop and make mount 1 inch lower than full travel of shock just to be safe to you dont use shock as limiter
