CARTERSVILLE, GA – The battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship continues this weekend with ten races in five different states. Point leader Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL and the second-place driver Daniel Bridgmon are separated by just two points going into Week 6 competition.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 6 action begins this Friday night with four races on the schedule. There will be a special $1,000-to-win race this Friday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN. Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will also present a special Friday night show.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS will also be in action this Friday night with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 6 Late Model competition.

Six NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Model events will be on Saturday night. Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS will present their 2014 season opener this Saturday night. NeSmith Chevrolet WRS Late Model events will also be held this Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Breman, AL, Camden Speedway in Camden, TN, Smokey Harris Speedway in Haleburg, AL, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, and at Talladega Short Track.

Just 30 points separate the Top 10 in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings after the first five weeks of the 2014 season. Point leader Gauldin has 243 point to 241 points for second-place Bridgmon.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS is in the third spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 233 points and Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is fourth with 232 points. Casey Haney of Meridian, MS is fifth with 223 points, and Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN is sixth with 219 points.

Kyle Clifton of Ranburne, AL is seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 215 points, and Red Farmer of Hueytown, AL is eighth with 214 points. Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS and Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL are tied for the ninth spot with 213 points apiece.

Drivers participating at NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanctioned tracks compete against each other through a points system that counts their 14 best weekly point totals over the 27-week season that runs through September 28.

The 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion will earn $10,000 and the Top 10 drivers in the final National point standings will also receive cash awards from the point fund. Drivers will also compete for an additional point fund at each series sanctioned track.

The dirt late model race cars in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series are powered by the economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines that are built and sealed at the factory to prevent any expensive modifications. There are two engines to choose from, the 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine that gets a 100-pound weight break.
