Atomic Speedway Results FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

CHILLICOTHE, OHIO-Thirty One of the nation's fastest modifieds took to the high banks of Atomic Speedway Thursday night, where 5-time AMRA champion Kenny Johnson, Mineral Wells, West Virginia, won his second feature in a row over defending AMRA champion Roy Roush in the Twenty-lap AMRA Advanced Services Modified main. The event kicked off the NDRL "Atomic Blast" Weekend at Brad McCown's Atomic Speedway. NDRL Late Model drivers had a practice session between heat events and after the remainder of the Sport Mod and Street Stock Programs.
Harley Martin, Jackson, Ohio claimed his third Sport Mod main after race-long battles with Emily Jordan and Ricky Neace. Jamie Adams claimed the Street Stock main in Adam Jones' "Pac-man" zero car.
The 20-lap modified main saw Johnson start on the outside pole and lead all 20-laps in daredevil fashion. Johnson half-tracked the field to lap 14 for only one of two cautions in the high-energy, action-packed event. Nathan Loney, the pole-sitter, led momentarily then settled into second place for much of the race until suffering a flat-tire on lap eighteen.
Roy Roush had dropped back to sixth place at one point and was there on lap eighteen when a restart saw Roush blast into second at the finish. Dave Pinkerton who was shuffled back to eighth at the same point blasted back to fourth at the finish just behind Derrick Smith, who had a great race-long run.
Greggie Oliver charged from 17th to fifth to earn hard charger awards.
Johnson said in victory lane, "I love this place and I love these fans. We had some type of problem tonight where I could only half throttle the car, but it allowed me to hook up and win, so I can't complain." Johnson let out a resounding war whoop to honor the fans.
Rounding out the top ten were Kenny Johnson, Roy Roush, Derrick Smith, Dave Pinkerton, Greggie Oliver, Brandon Ramsey, Travis (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)son, Shawn Holliday, Dave Jameson, and Jimmy Lennex.
In the 15 lap Sport Mod main, Harley Martin survived some bad luck experienced by early leaders Ricky Neace and Emily Jordan who both broke while leading in the first seven laps. Martin, the talented 16 year old, inherited the lead and blasted on to the victory.
Rounding out the top ten were Harley Martin, Steve Nobile, Andrew Bender, Derek Richmond, Brennon Bobst, David Lunsford, Derek Davidson, Emily Jordan, Jimmy Spillman, and Ricky Neace.
Jamie Adams led from start to finish in the 15-lap Street Stock main by fending off 3-time winner Dean Boyd the last six laps. Boyd made a run at the win but Adams closed the door to post the win. Rounding out the top ten were Jamie Adams, Dean Boyd, Brandon Thompson, Dave Landman, Tim Cutler, Tommy Mossbarger, Buzz Karr, Larry Highland, Brian McQuay, and Keith Elliott.
The racing weekend continues with a $5,000 to win NDRL Late Model show Friday with Modifieds and Street Stocks; and on Saturday the NDRL late models pay $15,000 to win for the Atomic Blast.
