Ponderosa Speedway Falls to Inclement Weather; Off May 16; Racing Returns on May 23
Junction City, KY-May 9, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff suffered their first cancellation of the 2014 racing season on Friday evening at the 3/8 mile D-shaped red clay oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as afternoon rain showers rolled and the threat of more rain later on in the evening forced the cancellation of the racing program.
It was the first rainout of the 2014 season after the track has gotten its first five scheduled race programs in the books without any weather related issues. The track will be off as scheduled on Friday May 16, but racing action will return on Friday May 23, with a full program of racing competition in all divisions.
The Friday May 23 racing program will feature all of the track’s racing division in action, with Super Late Models racing 25 laps for $1,000 to win in their main, along with Modifieds racing for $700 to win in their feature contest. Also on the Friday May 23 racing schedule will be Pro Late Models racing 20 laps for $600 to win (12 or more entries; $400 to win 11 or less entries), Sportsman racing for $300 to win in a 15 lap feature event, along with Pure Street ($200 to win) and Four Cylinders ($100 to win). RACEceivers are mandatory for all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration, with all drivers needing to be signed at the time for the drivers meeting that evening at 7:00 p.m.
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Jerry Denson is the track promoters and will present dirt track sports entertainment from April through mid-October of the 2014 race season.
