FASTRAK DLM “TRIPLE CROWN” back at Charlotte Dirt Track PLUS double features the next two days!
In what has become one of the stellar events in the world of crate engine late model racing, the FASTRAK DLM “triple crown” begins in 2014 back at the Dirt Track at Charlotte. Day 2 Wythe Raceway “double features” and day 3 at Princeton Speedway “double features” once again, making it five races in two days. FIVE RACES IN TWO DAYS!
“We have been working on this for some time now”, said Stan Lester of FASTRAK. “We are doing things that pay the majority of people additional money to start the events. In this “double feature” format there will be two separate 25 lap features at both Wythe Raceway and Princeton Speedway. Charlotte will remain a $2000 to win event. Time constraints at Charlotte won’t allow us to do the ‘double feature’ format there”.
“I’m excited about the new format” stated Brain Haynes of the series. “I’m excited about going back to Charlotte. It’s been four years now and it’s time the “premier” crate late model series was back at Charlotte and what a great place to begin the “triple crown”. This is a prestigious event” said Haynes.” It’s all about bragging rights. Who earns that crown is what it’s all about”.
It has been a tightly contended 3 race championship every year. Last year’s champion was Ron Parker of NC. “Winning the huge cup trophy and the being crowned on the front straight and have that robe put on you in front of the entire crowd is a big deal” said Lester. “Only one person in the entire nation per season has that opportunity so it’s huge when it all comes together on that Sunday night at Princeton Speedway”.
The double feature format actually pays the entire field additional money. If you put them side by side every position is more other than first place. It stays the exact same. “It’s our way of trying to communicate to all teams they are welcome to run with us and that they are important regardless of where they finish: said Lester. Same laps. First lap in qualifying goes to first feature, second lap in qualifying goes to second feature. We have not decided if we will go a inversion of any kind on Saturday and Sunday and might actually leave that up to a fan vote.
The Triple Crown Champion of the weekend will be “crowned” on the front straight of Princeton after the race on Sunday evening. “they will be presented with a beautiful cup trophy, robe, crown and scepter”.
To participate in the Charlotte dirt track event you must pre register. Go to www.fastrakracing.com and download the form and get it to the speedway right away. We can only take the first 50 applicants and there are no exceptions.
