Iron Motorsports Nabs ALMS Victory at Oakshade Raceway; Dirt Late Model Dream Next!

(PINCONNING, MICHIGAN) The Iron Motorsports team and driver Jeep Van Wormer enjoyed a very successful Memorial Day holiday weekend from May 23-25, as they picked up their second feature win of the season and two additional podium finishes! Their trip to victory lane came on Saturday at Oakshade Raceway in Wauseon, Ohio. Jeep ran second in his heat race and later started the 30-lap American Late Model Series (ALMS) feature event from the inside of the third row. The Pinconning, Michigan ace then grabbed the top spot on the fifth circuit and drove away from the field to score the $2,000 triumph over Brian Ruhlman, Casey Noonan, Matt Miller, and Ryan Missler!

Jeep was also a factor in the other two ALMS programs over the weekend at I-96 Speedway in Lake Odessa, Michigan and Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio. On Friday at I-96, he finished second in his heat race prior to notching a strong third place performance in the $2,000 to win main event behind only victor Rusty Schlenk and runner-up Jeff Bab(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word). In the annual 'Johnny Appleseed Classic' at the "Big E" on Sunday evening, Jeep ran third in heat race action and later blasted past five competitors during the $2,000 to win feature to claim a runner-up effort behind only race winner Matt Miller. Full results from the action-packed weekend can be viewed online at www.americanlatemodelseries.com.

“It was an excellent weekend for us - getting another win and two more strong finishes,” quoted Van Wormer earlier this week via telephone. “We ran both our older Rocket car and our brand-new piece over the weekend and both performed very well. I am leaning towards bringing our older car back to Eldora for the Dream, but we have a little more time before we have to make a final decision on that. Either way, I think we learned some things on Sunday in the Johnny Appleseed Classic that are going to pay dividends over Dream weekend!”

Following a weekend off on May 30-31, Jeep and his #55 team will roll into the famed Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio on June 5-7 for the 20th Annual ‘Dirt Late Model Dream.’ Two prelim nights will start things off at the “Big E” culminating in Twin 25s paying $2,500 to win each on Thursday night and $5,000 to win each on Friday evening. The stakes will raise in a hurry come Saturday at the hallowed 1/2-mile, high-banked speedplant, as heat races and consolation events will precede the 100-lap ‘Dirt Late Model Dream,’ which once again boasts a huge $100,000 payday. Jeep has made nine career starts in the highest paying main event in our industry and his best outing was a sixth place finish back in 2011. Additional information concerning the ‘Dirt Late Model Dream’ weekend at Eldora can be found online at www.eldoraspeedway.com.
