3rd Annual Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial THIS Saturday, June 14th at 201 Speedway
(June 10, 2014) SITKA, KY – 201 Speedway track owner Jarrod Breeding, promoter Tony Sturgill, and their staff are gearing up for yet another big event at the 3/8 mile Eastern Kentucky oval.
The unsanctioned 3rd Annual Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial boosts a $3,000-to-win/$250-to-start main event for Super Late Models. The Saturday, June 14th racing program feature a complete show of Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains, and 40-lap Feature for Super Late Models. The Open Wheel Modifieds, Bombers, and Four Cylinders Stocks are also on the racing card, with Weekly Racing Series competition in their respective divisions.
The annual Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial honors former Knott County, Kentucky resident Walter Combs and his accomplishments throughout the years in Eastern Kentucky racing. The Hall of Famer is best known throughout the region for scoring the victory in the first event Super Late Model event contested at 201 Speedway.
Bryantsville, Kentucky’s Dustin Linville won the 2013 edition of the Walter “Peg” Combs Memorial in a thriller over Grayson, Kentucky’s Jackie Boggs. Chris Combs, Michael Paul Howard, and Paul Harris rounded out the top five finishers.

Activities for the June 14th event at 201 Speedway will the pit and general admission area open at 3:00pm. A mandatory drivers meeting set to take place at 6:30pm followed by hot laps shortly after. Ticket prices for the June 14th event in the general admission area will be $18 for adults, pit passes are $35, while children ages 10 and under are admitted FREE to 201 Speedway.
201 Speedway last raced on June 7th and feature event winners included Shannon Thornsberry in the Super Late Models; Jim Barnett in the Open Wheel Modifieds; Brandon Hutchinson in the Bombers; and Mark Jude in the Four Cylinder Stock division.
Current championship point leaders heading into the June 14th event are Shannon Thornsberry in the Super Late Models; Jeremy Hayes and Jim Barnett (tied) in the Open Wheel Modifieds; Tim Mason in the Bombers; and Michael Caudill in the Four Cylinders Stocks.
