CARTERSVILLE, GA – Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL turned in his tenth top five finish of the season Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL to remain the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader after Week 12 competition. Gauldin holds a 47-point lead over Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS in the battle for the $10,000 National Championship.

Gauldin is one of two drivers that have competed in all 12 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition and has accumulated 570 points after two wins, ten top five finishes and 13 top ten finishes in 13 races. Gauldin drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to a third-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Bridgmon finished second on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, MS in the Robinson Electric Supply Special, and now has 523 points after 11 weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, one week less than Gauldin. Bridgmon has three wins, 11 top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS and Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS are tied for the third spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 499 points apiece. Lee holds the tie-breaker with three wins to none for Sanchagrin.

Lee finished second on Saturday night at St, Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA in the Billy Riels Racing GRT, and his point total includes three wins and 12 top five finishes in 15 races over 11 weeks. Sanchagrin has two top five finishes and six top ten finishes in 13 races over 12 weeks. Sanchagrin failed to qualify for the main event on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway in the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL drove the Skinner’s Body Shop Special to his second straight NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track. The 12-year-old sensation is fifth in the standings with 493 points after two wins, five top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 14 races over 11 weeks of competition.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 453 points after one win, four top five finishes and 11 top ten finishes in 11 races over ten weeks. Combs finished eighth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the Pro Grafx Special.

Cliff Williams of Star, MS climbed up to the seventh spot in the standings with 437 points after a third-place finish on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in the Cliff Williams Plumbing Trak-Star. After 13 races over ten weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition, Williams has eight top five finishes and nine top ten finishes.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star to his fifth win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway. That puts Daspit in the eighth spot of the standings with 433 points after five wins and nine top five finishes in ten races over nine weeks of competition.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 422 points after one top five finish and five top ten finishes in 11 races over ten weeks of racing. Angle finished tenth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track driving the J&S Racing Rocket.

Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 415 points after two top five finishes and eight top ten finishes in 14 races over ten weeks of competition. Scarbrough finished ninth on Friday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway driving the Villa South Trak-Star.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 action, Darrick Klima of Belleville, KS took his third win of the season on Friday night at Salina Speedway in Salina, KS driving the Mike’s Body Shop Special. Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS won the Friday night race at Magnolia Motor Speedway for his first series win of the season topping a 41-car field.

Ashley Newman of Ripley, TN topped a 43-car field and picked up the $1,000 to prize on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway with his sixth NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season driving the Greg’s Sawmill Special. Ryan King of Seymour, TN drove the Brian King Roofing Stinger to his third win of the season on Saturday night and cashed in on the $1,000 top prize at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN.

Jon Biles of Centerville, AL drove the Biles Welding Special to his second NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL. Chandler Petty of Austin, AR picked up his third win of the season on Saturday night at Poplar Bluff Speedway in Poplar Bluff, MO in the Whistle Stop Barbeque Rocket.

The Friday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 12 race at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and the Salina Speedway Week 9 Make Up Race on Saturday night at RPM Speedway in Hays, KS were rained out.

Daspit gave defending and three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Champion Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL their 17th win of the season, as they continue to lead the point standings. Four-time Champion GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR is second in the standings with 12 wins.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge standings after Petty gave them their 11th win of the season. CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is fourth with three wins, and Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fifth with three wins. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is sixth and still looking for their first win of the season.
