Mother Nature Takes Checkered Flag at Ponderosa Speedway; Racing Resumes Friday June 27
Junction City, KY-June 20, 2014- It was set to be a hot night of racing action at Ponderosa Speedway on Friday evening, but Mother Nature decided to intervene about ten minutes prior to the drivers meeting and eventually the racing program had to be cancelled.
Around 6:50 p.m., light rain showers began to fall at the track and as track officials surveyed the situation, heavy rains began falling around 7:10 p.m. and deluged the racing surface with water, making it impossible to attempt to run back in and make it safe for the racers, so the decision to cancel the racing program was made.
Originally scheduled as an off week, racing action will resume at Ponderosa Speedway this Friday evening June 27, featuring a full racing program in all divisions. Those individuals that have tickets from the June 20 rainout can use those this coming Friday June 27, along with those individuals that have pit passes, they can also be used this Friday June 27. Those tickets and pit passes are the rainchecks to get individuals back in this Friday June 27 and patrons must have their ticket or pit pass or they will have to pay again.
The following racers were on the grounds to present the racing action when the rains came on Friday June 20 and forced the cancellation of the racing program:
-Super Late Models: Gary Christian, Jason Barrett, Jake Henry, Tommy Bailey, Timmy Yeager, Timmy Taylor, Dustin Linville, Dion Benningfield, Bartley Grant, Justin Rattliff, Michael Chilton, and Lester Decker
-Pro Late Models: Chase McWhorter, Chris Fair, Wesley Brummett, Gary Yeager, Gary Christian, Connor Meade, Zane Powell, David Hill, Elliott Despain, and A.J. Reams
-Modifieds: Ryan Thomas, Matthew Jordan, Tim Potts, Keith Decker, Mikah Reams, Greg Coulton, Rocky Wilson, Benji Lee, Steven Eversole, Kenny Reams, Billy Meredith, Eli Meredith, Elliott Despain, Jeff Watson, Stacey Decker, Jeff Rawlings, Victor Lee, and David Webb
-Sportsman: Glen Hounshell, Jr., Glen Branham, Nathaniel Mullins, Terry Cheeks, and Sarah Patrick.
