CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 13 of the 27-week 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season saw a reshuffling of the Top 20 in the point standings. Point leader Adam Gauldin of Talladega, AL helped his cause with a win, but several drivers behind him in the points chase are lining up to challenge as the second half of the season draws near.

There is also a spreading of the wealth around the NeSmith Racing Nation among the Top 20 drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings. There are seven drivers from Alabama, seven drivers from Mississippi, four drivers from Tennessee and two drivers from Texas.

In the coming weeks, there could be a group of drivers from Kansas, Florida and Louisiana getting into the battle for the $10,000 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Championship.

Gauldin drove the Adam Gauldin Racing GRT to his third win of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and extended his point lead to a margin of 36 points over 12-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL. Gauldin has a total of 620 points after three wins, 11 top five finishes and 15 top ten finishes in 15 races over 13 weeks.

Skinner earned points in a Week 10 Make Up race and a Week 13 race to climb into the second spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 584 points after two wins, six top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 16 races over 13 weeks. Skinner finished sixth on Friday night at Arkadelphia Speedway in Bremen, AL and fifth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL driving the Skinner’s Body Shop Special.

Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS drove the Billy Riels Racing GRT to his fourth win of the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS. Lee is third in the standings with 549 points after four wins and 14 top five finishes in 17 races over 12 weeks.

Doug Sanchagrin of Florence, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 546 points earned in 14 races over 13 weeks with three top five finishes and seven top ten finishes. Sanchagrin finished fourth on Friday night at Hattiesburg Speedway driving the Permanent Exterior Solutions Trak-Star.

Daniel Bridgmon of Meridian, MS did not compete in NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 13 competition and fell from second to fifth in the standings with 523 points. Bridgmon has three wins, 11 top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 13 races over 11 weeks.

Mike Combs of Odenville, AL is sixth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 498 points after one win, four top five finishes and 12 top ten finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks driving the Pro Grafx Special. Combs finished sixth on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

The defending NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS remains a title contender and is seventh in the standings with 479 points earned in 11 races over ten weeks of competition after five wins and ten top five finishes in the Billy Riels Racing Trak-Star. Daspit finished fifth on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA.

Heath Minor was another double dipper at Arkadelphia Speedway having earned points for two weeks that enabled him to climb up to the eighth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 478 points.

Minor drove the Mike Minor’s Body Shop Warrior to his fourth win of the season on Friday night in the Week 10 Make Up race, and then finished seventh on Saturday night. Minor has four wins, nine top five finishes and ten top ten finishes in 11 races over ten weeks of NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competition.

Justin Angle of Anniston, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 466 points after one top five finish and six top ten finishes in 12 races over 11 weeks of racing. Angle drove the J&S Racing Rocket to a seventh-place finish on Saturday night at Talladega Short Track.

Chris Holley of Dayton, TX moved back into the tenth spot of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings after taking his eighth win in nine races driving the Land Bridge Transportation Special. Holley has 449 points after eight wins and one second-place finish in nine races over nine weeks.

In other NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 13 action, Bronson Berry of Huntingdon, TN drove the Garner Brothers Farms Special to his fourth win of the 2014 season on Friday night at Lexington 104 Speedway in Lexington, TN. Rusty Ballenger of Sevierville, TN took his second $1,000 win of the season on Saturday night at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, TN driving the Rehel Diesel/East TN Metal Special.

Montana Dudley of Phenix City, AL picked up the $1,000 top prize after his third NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at East Alabama Motor Speedway in Phenix City, AL driving the Eiland Pools Rocket. Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL won the South Eastern Crate Series co-sanctioned race on Saturday night at Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL driving the Joiner Racing Special.

Kody Barber of Bogalusa, LA drove the Barber’s Hardware Special to his third NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win of the season on Saturday night at St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA. Cale Finley of Bremen, AL was the Saturday night winner at Arkadelphia Speedway in the Finley Racing Special.

Ronnie Cooper of McKenzie, TN grabbed NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series win number two of the 2014 season on Saturday night at Clayhill Motorsports in Atwood, TN driving the Ronnie Cooper Trucking Rocket. Mike Palasini Jr. of Leland, MS drove the MP Trucking Special to his fourth win of the season on Saturday night at Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS.

There was one rainout on the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 13 schedule and that was Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Trak-Star Race Cars built by Boland Performance of Cuba, AL continues to lead the 2014 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge standings with 17 wins on the season. Week 13 wins from Lee and Gauldin has GRT Race Cars of Greenbrier, AR in the second spot with 14 wins.

Rocket Chassis of Shinnston, WV is third in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufactures Challenge standings with 13 wins after Week 13 victories from Dudley and Cooper. Warrior Race Cars built by Goddard Performance of Knoxville, TN is fourth after Minor gave them their fifth win of the season.

CVR Race Cars of Lenoir City, TN is fifth with three wins. TNT Race Cars of Piney Flats, TN is also participating in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Chassis Manufacturers Challenge and is still looking for their first win of the season.
