ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series Sanctions Lavonia Speedway Shrine Event
Lavonia, Georgia – The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will make its the second of 3 scheduled visits to the Lavonia Speedway in Lavonia, Georgia this Friday night, August 1st. The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series was scheduled to kick off the 2014 campaign at Lavonia Speedway but Mother Nature won out and the event was postponed. Gray Court, South Carolina’s Chris Madden picked up the win in the series’ last visit to Lavonia back on September 14th of last year. Friday night’s ULTIMATE sanctioned Shrine 40 will pay $4000 to win the 40 lap feature event. The event will benefit the Shriners Hospital.
The 4th year touring series has had 6 different winners in the 8 events that have taken place including a 2-in-a-row streak by Crossville, Tennessee’s Randy Weaver. The Series has also endured more than its fair share of rainouts totaling 5 including the most recent doubleheader event in West Virginia. “The weather hasn’t been kind to us at all. We should be up to about 14 races now but Mother Nature has had other plans. But everyone is excited about this Lavonia weekend coming up. Hopefully we can get some weather mercy again and have a great weekend for our drivers and fans.” said Kelley Carlton ULTIMATE Series Director.
The Series has enjoyed a very diverse group of drivers thus far this season with nearly 110 different drivers entering the completed events. Even more encouraging has been the fan support. “The fan support that we have experienced this year is just incredible. We have had awesome crowds really everywhere that we have been. Our promoters are doing a great job of getting the word out and our drivers have put on some spectacular racing. That’s a good combination to build our audience. We are very fortunate and we couldn’t be more proud of the product that we are putting out for fans and promoters. We are stoked to be heading back to Lavonia next week. There are some great race fans up there and I am really excited to see Supers on the track at night. The ownership and management have poured a lot of time and passion into the track and it really shows. I have seen some great racing up there over the years so we expect more of the same. Add to all that the fact that it’s a Shrine Benefit Race and we couldn’t be more excited.” Carlton added.
