ULTIMATE Doubleheader Weekend on Tap for August 8 & 9
Carnesville, Georgia - The ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series will head for the hills this weekend with a first time visit to Beckley Motor Speedway in Beckley, West Virginia on Friday and a Saturday weekend finale at Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia. The series has been plagued by rainouts of late but series officials are hopeful Mother Nature will grant them a break for the doubleheader. "We have had 3 rainouts in a row so we are hoping for a good weather weekend so we can get these two events in. Both tracks have great facilities and are known for exciting racing so we are expecting great crowds both nights." said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.
The weekend kicks off on Friday, August 8th at the 3/8ths mile Beckley Motor Speedway. The track has routinely hosted Super Late Models on their weekly shows in years past but elected to only host them for special events in 2014 under new owner/promoter Rick Strattis. The Beckley faithful will be anxious for the return of the 900 horsepower open engined Super Late Models. The Brandy & Ginger Bragg Memorial pays $5000 to the winner of the 50-lap A-main. Gates open at 4 PM on Friday and the drivers meeting is set for 7:15.
The ULTIMATE travelers will complete the weekend at Wythe Raceway, one of the series' mainstays since it its inception. However Fred and Susan Brown's big 4/10ths mile facility will see the ULTIMATE Supers for the first time since 2012 after the two 2013 scheduled events were lost to rain. Wythe will play host the series for the 5th time since 2011. Vic Hill swept both events in 2012 while Chris Madden and Jonathan Davenport both scored a victory in 2011. Gates open at 3 PM and drivers meeting scheduled for 6:15. Admission: $20.00; Seniors (60+) $15.00; Youth (11-15) $5.00; Child 10 & Under Free; Pits $30.00 minimum age in Pits: 12
