August 8th ULTIMATE Supers Event at Beckley Motor Speedway Canceled
Carnesville, Georgia – Beckley Motor Speedway Promoter Rick Strattis notified ULTIMATE Super Late Model Officials via text on Monday night that he was cancelling the $5000 to win Brandy and Ginger Bragg Memorial ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series event which was scheduled for Friday, August 8th. The event will not be rescheduled.
“It is very unfortunate that Rick decided to cancel this race. We had gotten lots of interest and several drivers were committed to be there. We were very confident this would have been one of the most successful events of the season so far. We have been having great fields of cars and really good crowds this year. It is a shame that this happened this late in the game. If it was a week earlier we could have rescheduled the date for another venue. But with this late of a notification it would be impossible to properly promote an event. I hate it for our racers the most. We have had a few rainouts and now this. It is tough on them because they want to race. And we need to race for our sponsors and our fans. It is just very disappointing.” said ULTIMATE Series Director Kelley Carlton.
“However we do have the saving grace of our event at Wythe Raceway on Saturday night to look forward to. Wythe has always been one of family of tracks. Fred and Susan Brown have one of the nicest facilities anywhere and the racing is always stellar. So we are very excited to get back up there.” added Carlton. The ULTIMATE travelers will head for Wythe Raceway, one of the series' mainstays since it its inception, Saturday, August 9th. The Brown's big 4/10ths mile facility will see the ULTIMATE Supers for the first time since 2012 after the two 2013 scheduled events were lost to rain. Wythe will play host to the series for the 5th time since 2011. Vic Hill swept both events in 2012 while Chris Madden and Jonathan Davenport both scored a victory in 2011.
Gates open at 3 PM and drivers meeting scheduled for 6:15. Admission: $20.00; Seniors (60+) $15.00; Youth (11-15) $5.00; Children 10 and under are free; Pits $30.00 (minimum age in Pits 12).
