I'm currently running an 800 lb spring in my pullbar. Our track is always super dry slick. Would going to a 1,000 lb spring help with traction or hurt?

Hurt. Softer compression spring allows for a slower transition to available grip from the track. A stiff compression spring puts the power down quick and can allow the tires to spin due to the sudden reduction of axle wrap

We would need data acquisition of throttle position vs pinion angle to know for sure. If you are rapidly bottoming your spring, that is bad for traction.

use about 7 degrees of pinion angle. I ran a progressive spring with very little pre load

Don't forget the Anti-squat migration in those calculations of spring rate if you wanna get technical.

OP. do you have a movement indicator? How much movement are averaging?
