Hello I am new to the forum, I came here looking for answers to a few questions. I use to race street stocks years ago and am looking to get back into racing a sport modified or as we call them MOVE mod. Mid Ohio Valley Economy Modified. I have been doing my research and I think I found that the car I bought is called a 3 link swing arm car. It is a 2006 Boss Chassis that was supose to be a 4 bar car but was converted to Swing arm on Left and Three Bar on Right side. It was sold to me as a Z link but I have found that it is not. I am going to include a few pictures with my post. I am looking to convert it back to the three bar set up so I can run at Tyler County in the Hot Mod class per the rules. Can someone please help me with my terminology and any advise is welcome. https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparkstyson/15063085095/https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparkstyson/15063125165/in/photostream/https://www.flickr.com/photos/sparkstyson/15062796832/in/photostream/

That would be a z link lr with spring on top RR 2/3 link set up. Brake bar going forward from rear end with a pull bar on top. I'm wondering if anyone chimes in with more knowledge about the braking bar if its more beneficial than a pull bar and affects it has. Also you have a shorter track bar panhard bar located on left side of pinion instead of a j bar. Do you run a tight stop and go track or is that where it came from?

When I bought the car the guy gave to me paper work from 2006 when it was new. The driver kept great logs of changes to the car. HE changed it from a four link to a 3 link then to what he calls a swingarm suspension. It had a J bar on it but he took it off for the straight bar. He made adjustments to the pull bar but never speaks of the braking bar. He ran three different tracks. All different sizes. Most B mod or sport Mod classes will not allow the suspension setup like that. I might need to make it a three link. So I am also looking for advice on how to do that.

If you do convert it to a 3 link you will need a new chassis side trailing arm mount on the left so you can get more angle in that trailing arm. Also you will need a trailing arm mount on the rearend on the left rear. Eliminate the the braking bar and just put a pull bar in. I would suggest a J bar and put it at pinion centerline on rearend and 4" up on the frame side to start (19"-21" long bar). Trailing arm angles, left 15*-20*, right 5*-10*. 200lbs springs across the back to start. It all depends on you rules to as far as bar lengths and options.Shocks:LF: 5-3 RF: 3-6 LR:10-2 RR: 4

Saying the compression and rebound. I believe Bilstein lists rebound first but can't recall. Most list compression first then rebound second. To convert to 3 link you'll need to get rid of brake bar and birdcage for that LR. There are many brackets out that bolt on to make a 3 link. Most likely if a sport mod class you'll need a solid tip link as well. But make the lr bracket so you can have 15-30* at ride height for LR bar angle. At least when we did that it worked well and we could adjust it accordingly. Few hundred dollars should have you converted. What front stub is the car?

1985 impala I think. He said any big frame chevy would work for parts. So you are saying by the picture it would be hard to make it a 3 link car? Also I do need a solid bar. HEre are the rules look under suspension. http://edgeconnect.co/wp-content/uploads/2012/11/SKMBT_36113120313530.pdf

Should be pretty straight forward. Buy a bracket for the LR to make it a solid 3 link car and get a piece of Dom and weld bungs in it for top link. I never liked swedge tubes and have seen many break.
