Brian Shirley Competes in St. Louis Showdown; Jason Riggs Eyes Granite City Triple Shot

(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) Brian Shirley was the lone Riggs Motorsports driver in action over the September 12-13 weekend, as he traveled to a pair of facilities in Illinois and Missouri for the 'St. Louis Showdown.' On Friday night at Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois, Brian clicked off the third fastest lap in his group during qualifying and later placed third in his heat race. After starting the $10,000 to win feature event from the outside of the fifth row, Brian worked his way past four competitors during the 50-lapper en route to a strong sixth place showing.

Things quickly shifted to Federated Raceway at I-55 in Pevely, Missouri on Saturday evening for the second leg of the 'St. Louis Showdown,' which also boasted a $10,000 winner's check. Brian knocked down the second quickest time in his group during the qualifying session prior to picking up the win in his heat race. After rolling off from the outside of the second row in the 40-lap headliner, the Chatham, Illinois star unfortunately slowed on lap 22 with problems and retired in the twentieth position. Complete results from the doubleheader can be accessed online at www.tricityspeedway.net and www.i55raceway.com.

With Brian scheduled to enjoy the upcoming weekend away from the racetrack, teammate Jason Riggs will carry the Riggs Motorsports banner back to Tri-City Speedway in Granite City, Illinois on September 18-20. A trio of UMP DIRTcar Late Model programs will be held at the St. Louis-area venue this Thursday, Friday, and Saturday and all three races will boast a $2,000 payday.
