Red Clay Bash Fast Facts

-The Red Clay Bash first appeared on the Ponderosa Speedway schedule in the 2012 season on the Memorial Day holiday weekend and Mike Jewell would lead the first 27 laps of the event before Victor Lee of Danville, KY would overtake Jewell and lead the final eight circuits to take the victory in the Super Late Model portion of the event. Todd Coffman would get by Jewell in the final laps to take second, with Jewell settling for third, while Georgia’s Aaron Ridley and Michael Chilton would complete the top five. In the Modified portion of the Red Clay Bash, Elliott Despain of Campbellsville, KY would score his second win in as many weeks and claim the open-wheel portion of the program over Tommy Bailey, Jimmy Payne, Dion Benningfield, and Jeff Rawlings.

-For 2013, the Red Clay Bash was contested on the Friday prior to the Paul “Butterball” Wooldridge at Richmond (KY) Raceway and Chris Combs of Isom, KY would pick up the $3,000 payday when he made a turn two pass of race leader Dustin Linville in heavy traffic coming to the white flag to take the victory. Tenth place starter Greg Johnson would claim a third place finish, while 13th place starter Brad Neat and 14th place starter Victor Lee would complete the top five. In the Modified portion of the event, Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY would hold off the challenges of J.T. Ayers to pick up $1,000 for his efforts and take the win, with Don Adams, Benji Lee, and Dion Benningfield completing the top five. Other support division action would see Todd Coffman of Junction City, KY win the Pro Late Model feature, while Donnie Sullivan of Stanford, KY picked up the win in the Sportsman division feature.

-The 2014 edition of the Red Clay Bash will be a special Saturday night event on Saturday September 27 and will feature the Super Late Models racing for $3,000 to win, Modifieds racing for $1,000 to win, Pro Late Models racing for $600 to win, and Sportsman racing for $400 to win. As an added attraction, there will be Power Wheels races for the children and Spectator Drags for the adults.
