Southern Nationals Bonus Series $10,000 Friday Night Rumble/Fall Classic Weekend at Ponderosa Speedway October 10, October 11
Junction City, KY-September 28, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff are now planning for the 2014 season finale weekend of racing action at the 3.8 mile D-shaped oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the Ray Cook promoted Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble on Friday October 10 and the 24th Annual Saving the Ta Ta’s Topless 60 on Saturday October 11.
The 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble will take place on Friday October 10 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, Graphic Impressions A-B group time trials ($100 to overall top qualifier), Revelution Race Cars dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash), heats, B-Mains, and the 35 lap, $2,500 to win/$250 to start 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble. Also in action on Friday October 10 will be the track’s Modifieds racing 25 laps for $1,500 to win/$125 to start, along with Pro Late Models racing 25 laps for $1,000 to win/$100 to start sponsored by Jay Construction and Restoration, and Sportsman racing 20 laps for $800 to win/$75 to start. Full payouts for the Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman divisions will be announced later on this week. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration.
The 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s Topless 60 will take place the following evening on Saturday October 11 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, Graphic Impressions A-B group time trials ($100 to overall top qualifier), Revelution Race Cars dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash), heats, B-Mains, and the 60 lap, $7,500 to win/$400 to start 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta-Ta’s Topless 60, as the Super Late Model division will sport the convertible look and race with the roofs removed from the race cars, however, drivers can choose to run a sheet metal cover over the opening of the top of the roll cage over the drivers head for safety purposes. Also in action on Saturday October 11 will be the track’s Modifieds racing 35 laps for $3,000 to win/$250 to start, along with Pro Late Models racing 30 laps for $1,500 to win, and Sportsman racing 25 laps for $1,000 to win/$100 to start. Full payouts for the Modified, Pro Late Model, and Sportsman divisions will be announced later on this week. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration.
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness, the Saturday October 11 portion of the Fall Classic weekend will see the Super Late Models race with the roofs removed from the cars and a portion of the weekend’s proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Also, the track will receive a provisional starting spot in the Super Late Model A-Main each night and the driver that receives that provisional starting spot will be determined by a dash among the top point earners at the track throughout the 2014 race season each evening.
The following contingency awards will also be up for grabs each at Ponderosa Speedway in the Super Late Model division: Graphic Impression of Hazard, KY Overall Top Qualifier ($100 each night); Revelution Race Cars of Richmond, KY Dash ($200 each night); PPM Racing Products of Rockwood, TN Hard Charger of the Race Award ($100 each night); Double H Race Fabrication of Harriman, TN Middle Man Award ($50 product certificate each night)
The following entry fees will apply for the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble on Friday October 10: Super Late Models- $50, Modifieds- $30, Pro Late Models- $25, and Sportsman- $20. For the 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s Topless 60 on Saturday October 11, the following entry fees will apply: Super Late Models-$80; Modifieds-$60, Pro Late Models- $30, and Sportsman- $25. Also, all four divisions will be using scoring transponders at each event and the rental fee for Super Late Models will be $20 per night ($10 if driver has their own transponder), while the entry fees for all other divisions includes the transponder rental fee for racing that night. Tow money will be paid in all divisions both nights, with that being whatever the entry fee is that is paid for that night’s event and racers must start their assigned B-main to be eligible for tow money.
The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the program each evening and the following tire rules will be in place for each night: Hoosier- LM20, 1300, 1350, LM40, and 1600; American Racer- 44, 48, and 56. These tire compounds must be on all four corners of the race cars. Also, random tire samples will taken over the course of the two days of racing activities by the series.

A pit pass will be $35.
