Jason Riggs Bags Top Five at Haubstadt; Brian Shirley Readies for IL State Championship

(HARRISBURG, ILLINOIS) The Riggs Motorsports team headed in different directions from September 25-27, as Jason Riggs ventured to the Hoosier State and Brian Shirley traveled to the Hawkeye State. At Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, Indiana on Saturday, Jason entered a $2,000 to win American Late Model Series (ALMS) showdown. After running second in his heat race, Jason slipped back to finish fifth in the A-Main behind only victor Randy Korte, Rodney Melvin, Dillan White, and Frankie Martin.

Brian and his #81 team invaded the hallowed Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa on Thursday through Saturday for the 11th Annual 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals.' While Brian unfortunately missed out on Thursday night's $7,000 to win preliminary feature, he rebounded nicely by winning his heat race and finishing fourteenth in Friday's 25-lap main event, which also boasted a $7,000 payday. In Saturday's 'Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals' finale, the Chatham, Illinois ace started from the outside of the eleventh row in the $40,000 to win headliner, but retired early from the 100-lap grind in the thirtieth position. Full results from both racetracks can be found online at www.dirtondirt.com.

With Jason Riggs opting to enjoy the upcoming October 3-4 weekend away from the racetrack, Brian Shirley will be the lone Riggs Motorsports driver in competition. Brian is slated to make the trip to Peoria Speedway in Peoria, Illinois on Saturday evening for the annual running of the ‘Illinois State Championship.’ The single-day UMP DIRTcar Series tilt boasts a $5,000 top prize in the 100-lap main event. Brian picked up a $3,000 triumph at Peoria back on April 12. Additional information on this race can be obtained by pointing your web browser to www.peoriaspeedway.com.
