Anticipation Builds for Southern Nationals Bonus Series $10,000 Weekend at Ponderosa Speedway October 10, 11

Junction City, KY-October 4, 2014- The anticipation builds as Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff prepare for the 2014 season finale weekend of racing action at the 3/8 mile D-shaped oval better known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring” as the Ray Cook promoted Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble on Friday October 10 and the 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s 60 on Saturday October 11.

The 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble will take place on Friday October 10 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, Graphic Impressions A-B group time trials ($100 to overall top qualifier), Revelution Race Cars dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash), heats, B-Mains, and the 35 lap, $2,500 to win 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble. Also in action on Friday October 10 will be the track’s Modifieds racing for $1,500 to win, Pro Late Models racing for $1,000 to win sponsored by Jay Construction and Restoration, and the Kentucky Dirt Racers Alliance Sportsman racing for $1,000 to win. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration.

The 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s 60 will take place the following evening on Saturday October 11 and will feature the Southern Nationals Bonus Series in action in a full program of practice, Graphic Impressions A-B group time trials ($100 to overall top qualifier), Revelution Race Cars dash (top 2 qualifiers from each group will be in a dash), heats, B-Mains, and the 60 lap, $7,500 to win 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s 60. Also in action on Saturday October 11 will be the track’s Modifieds racing for $3,000 to win, along with Pro Late Models racing for $1,500 to win, and Kentucky Dirt Racers Alliance Sportsman racing for $1,500 to win in the 1st Annual Bobby Carrier, Sr. Memorial. RACEceivers are mandatory in all divisions and can be rented at the track at driver registration.

Originally scheduled for the Super Late Models to be topless on October 11, the Super Late Model division will now race with the tops on the cars. Both events will see donations taken and a portion of each evening’s proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Also, the track will receive a provisional starting spot in the Super Late Model A-Main each night and the driver that receives that provisional starting spot will be determined by a dash among the top four point earners at the track throughout the 2014 race season each evening that have not raced their way into the show.

The Sportsman portion of the program both nights will be contested under the rules of the Kentucky Dirt Racers Alliance and is sponsored by Gabbert's Garage & Auto Repair, Fraley Automotive Inc., Wayne Bowen Racing Supply, Howard Chassis, Central KY Motorsports Expo & Swap Meet, SpeeDecal Vinyl Graphics, Smokehouse Grill, Gray Racing, Rob Jones Motorsports, Rainmaker Racecars, Wiseman Contracting, Phantom Racing Gear, Drakeford Brothers Starter and Alternator Repair, Ragged Edge Racecars, and American Racer Tire South.

The following contingency awards will also be up for grabs each at Ponderosa Speedway in the Super Late Model division: Graphic Impression of Hazard, KY Overall Top Qualifier ($100 each night); Revelution Race Cars of Richmond, KY Dash ($200 each night); PPM Racing Products of Rockwood, TN Hard Charger of the Race Award ($100 each night); Double H Race Fabrication of Harriman, TN Middle Man Award ($50 product certificate each night)

The following entry fees will apply for the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble on Friday October 10: Super Late Models- $50, Modifieds- $30, Pro Late Models- $25, and Sportsman- $20. For the 24th Annual Fall Classic Saving the Ta Ta’s 60 on Saturday October 11, the following entry fees will apply: Super Late Models-$80; Modifieds-$60, Pro Late Models- $30, and Sportsman- $25. Also, all four divisions will be using scoring transponders at each event and the rental fee for Super Late Models will be $20 per night ($10 if driver has their own transponder), while the entry fees for all other divisions includes the transponder rental fee for racing that night. Tow money will be paid in all divisions both nights, with that being whatever the entry fee is that is paid for that night’s event and racers must start their assigned B-main to be eligible for tow money.

The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the program each evening and the following tire rules will be in place for each night: Hoosier- LM20, 1300, 1350, LM40, and 1600; American Racer- 44, 48, and 56. These tire compounds must be on all four corners of the race cars. Also, random tire samples will taken by the series over the course of the two days of racing.

Activities for the 7th Annual Friday Night Rumble on Friday October 10 will see the pit area and general admission area open at 4:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 7:00 p.m., with practice laps set for 7:20 p.m. Time trials for the Super Late Model and Modified divisions will be at 7:45 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:30 p.m. Ticket prices for the Friday October 10 Friday Night Rumble event in the general admission area will be $20 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE. A pit pass will be $35.

Activities for the 24th Annual Fall Classic on Saturday October 11 will see the pit area and general admission areas cleared at 2:30 p.m., with gates set to reopen at 3:00 p.m. A special drivers autograph session will take in the general admission area from 5:15 p.m. until 5:45 p.m., with the drivers meeting set for 6:00 p.m. Practice laps will begin at 6:20 p.m., with Super Late Model and Modified time trials at 7:00 p.m., with racing set for the green flag at 8:00 p.m. Ticket prices for the Saturday October 11 Fall Classic event in the general admission area will be $25 for adults, with children ages 12 and under FREE, while a pit pass will be $40.
