Inclement Weather Forces Cancellation of Ponderosa Speedway’s Fall Classic Oct. 31, Nov. 1
Junction City, KY-October 29, 2014- Ponderosa Speedway track promoter Jerry Denson and staff are saddened to announce the cancellation of the 24th Fall Classic scheduled for Friday October 31 and Saturday November 1 that was to be sanctioned by the Southern Nationals Bonus Series at the 3/8 mile D-shaped oval known as “Kentucky’s Baddest Bullring”.
After weather meteorologists increased the rain chances to 60 percent for Friday and with the National Weather Service issued a freeze warning for both days and a chance of snow flurries for early Saturday morning, track and series officials thought it would be best to cancel the event. This was the second to run this event, after it was cancelled for inclement earlier in October. The event will not be made up this year.
“We hated to cancel this event, but we wanted to keep the comfort of the racers and fans the most important thing, and with the weather forecast as it is, we really have no choice but to cancel the event”, said track promoter Jerry Denson. “We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the racers and fans for their support during the 2014 racing season and we have even bigger and better things planned for the 2015 racing season”, added Denson.
Ponderosa Speedway is located at 365 Phillips Lane on the Boyle/Lincoln County border, outside of Junction City, KY, just minutes from Danville, KY. Jerry Denson is the track promoter.
