Does anyone know how much the MD3 nose weights? I'm thinking its more than the traditional aluminum front ends.

Also is there any known aero benefit of the MD3 nose vs the traditional styles?

Seems to be 50/50 with the cars that i see that have MD3 or the traditional style. Just trying to see if there are any opinions one way or the other on which setup is better.

I've also been thinking about widening the car body out to the IMCA max width but wondering if the trade off is worth it for the increased weight. (more bracing and bigger body panels)

Thanks.

IDK how much it weighs, cant be that much difference but the benefit of making your own nose is you get to choose the size and surface area and angle its at, so you can adjust the amount of down force on the nose and experiment.

MD3 nose weighs about 12.5 pounds. But that is before rivets and bracing.
The noses hold up a lot better than an Aluminum nose does during the year
MD3 nose takes some time and patience to put together, but if done correctly it can look good.

Oh wow i didnt realize they where that heavy. Thanks for the info. The aluminum cant weigh nearly that much. Well, that'll be atleast a good 10 lbs off the front end by switching back to aluminum. (guessing aluminum, rivets and bracing may be 5lbs at most)

This may help if you decide on the MD3 nose…

Go with the very durable plastic MD3. Man when everybody else is drinkin beer ur gonna spend half ur life poundin' out that aluminum every night.Go plastic and have a beer.

I'm actually thinking about going the other way and getting rid of the plastic nose and going back to aluminum as I believe its lighter. Just didt have any weights or a scale at home to do the weighing. Thanks.

I like the new "gen3" MD noses...
But it is my imagination or is that a Gen1 right side with a Gen2 left side?
But then they are selling it with it trimmed so the valance fits without having to cut the lip yourself. So I think that's the way I'm going this year. Thought?
