bout an older used mustang with shocks and springs over 2-3 season old...how often do I need to replace shocks and springs on my mustang....and what is the preferred size of springs?

I check mine about halfway thru the season, or if something suddenly feels wrong with the setup. Easy to unbolt & check the strength/rebound of a shock or strut. Had my handling suddenly go away a few years back, had a bad RF strut after 2 weeks of racing on a horribly rough track. I run a stock V8 strut on RF stock 4 banger on LF, NAPA rear shocks, and those rears have been on my car awhile now & still good. I personally have never had a racing spring go bad. I run 9.5" tall springs in front (with spring cups) and 11" tall in rear (no cups).

5 or 5 1/2 springs?........been looking thru the speedway magazine and saw springs that fit a nova or camaro but look and have the same size that I need...should work right?

5in springs. The 5 and 1/2in springs are to big to fit the stock lower control arms.

Yes 5" diameter springs...I run a 650# RF spring, stock spring cut down to 9 1/2" on LF (heard 5-600# range on LF works, I just dont use one, never needed to), 200# LR 175# RR and I can run any line I choose at most tracks.
