Ray Cook Sixth in 2015 Lid Lifter at 411; Ice Bowl Next for #53 Team

(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) Ray Cook and his #53 team kicked off their version of the 2015 racing season as soon as they could, as they entered the 5th Annual 'Hangover 40' at 411 Motor Speedway in Seymour, Tennessee on Thursday, January 1. A strong field of 46 competitors signed into the unsanctioned Super Late Model special, which boasted a $4,000 winner's check.

Ray started his afternoon by posting the sixth fastest lap in his group during the qualifying session and later placed second in his heat race behind only prelim victor Walker Arthur. After starting the 40-lap headliner from the outside of the sixth row, Ray did the best he could with his 525 motor on the rough, hooked-up racetrack. The Brasstown, North Carolina ace moved up six positions during the 'Hangover 40' to bag a solid sixth place performance in his season lid lifter behind only winner Donald McIntosh, Walker Arthur, Stephen Breeding, Pierce McCarter, and Jeremy Hines. Complete results from 411 Motor Speedway can be accessed by pointing your web browser to www.411motorspeedway.net.

Another early season extravaganza awaits the Ray Cook Racing team on January 10-11 at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. The 2015 edition of the ‘Ice Bowl’ will be held at TST and a $6,000 top prize will be up for grabs for the cars and stars of the Super Late Model division. Ray also plans to enter his Crate Late Model at the venue deemed as the “Hornets Nest,” as a $3,000 to win show is scheduled for that class. The popular driver known as the “Tarheel Tiger” captured the win last year in his Crate Late Model and is a two-time victor of the ‘Ice Bowl’ in his Super Late Model.
