I've been out of racing since 2007 and was wondering if my 2001 Bob Pierce was still competitive. Am thinking of giving it another go around.

The 01's are still VERY competitive. As long as it's in good shape, I wouldn't worry about it's age. Go have fun. It'll be fine.

Chevelle, metric, and ford clip. Not much else you can change except upper a arms. Maybe take underslung out or move. Maybe a rf in front shock update. I mean the only reason to buy another car is if yours isn't safe, it's Falling apart, or would cost more with time and effort rather than buying one already done. Want more holes buy some brackets for the rear $100. Want different a arms buy those brackets and arms you want. If you're mechanically inclined and can fabricate its all easy stuff to do.

Because they have have changed how much the stub was turned, metal does fatigue, sometimes they can be used up. IMO

I have seen some straight up stubs go pretty darn good.

Come on guys let's talk reality, 01and the 02 cars had 1. Hole for the bottom bars one hole dot the short bar. Front ends are better know. Lot more adjustments, I've had several call one these older chassis,for settings and really due to the age nobody really had a good answer, I'm not saying it's a bad car , but so much stuff has changed in the past 8 years

dirtracer was asking stupid beginner questions a few months ago, now hes an expert... put a fork in this forum.That car is too old to be a good car, chassis flex out and wear out. Bob75 would know.. If all you want to do is burn up fuel and drive in circles that chassis will work but it wont be worth putting a lot of money or time in.I see you unblocked me yet again👍. So chassis flex is an issue on a car that has low nights on it maybe it was built to flex? How do you know if its used up? There are many factors that can say if its good or not. Let us know how many nights are on it, throw nova lowers on it if they're not already on it, get the new front end updates, get some brackets for be rear end and a decent set of bird cages and you're good to go. Or you can be like stuck up car driver and buy $15-$20k of car and still be as as fast. Oh but wait there's more you don't have to worry about your Pierce being illegal on the front clip hahaha 👍

Yeah some straight up cars go well Masters. The Pierce IMO is its own animal if your running one of the older Clamped up Pierces and not their LR behind or scorpion car. Like bob said some have a minimal holes a wet average and slick position lol

The chassis is the 2" square tube frame. Was told that frame was stronger than the 1 1/2" round tube frames. It has plenty of holes for adjustment; but the slick, average, rough system always seemed to workout fine. Car when set up just right had tons of bite and could put car anywhere on track; liked the car a little loose. I raced it from 2005 - 2007 at least once or twice every weekend. I've raced on 14 different tracks and surfaces. Worst tracks for me were flatter; never got the hang of it. Best was slick. Didn't have a lot of money; so ran only basic set of shocks and springs. I've noticed how the right front on some of the clips is re-worked and is this legal by UMP rules. Thanks for all the input to my question.
