Here's one more...Brian Harris won the WoO 50-lapper on the Davenport, Iowa, 1/4-mile on May 9, 2007.

Good call Ed. I had Brian on my original list I have been keeping since 04, but in copying it here onto 4m I must have skipped right over Harris....honest mistake......thanks

Remember the 2007 race Harris won. It was a much anticipated WoO event at Davenport Speedway. Many local fans begged for the race be on the quarter mile instead of the legendary half mile. The fans got their wish but the race turned out to be a stinker (rubbered up track). Brian led start to finish.........give Harris kudos for holding off the big dogs for the win. Saw a lot of races at Davenport and can't remember ever seeing a one lane track there until that night.

Yeah Maestro, I remember that race quite well, it sure got a lot of bitchin' and moanin' from the masses, but its like I said then and I still say today " give me a first time winner everytime " and I'll keep coming back for more late model racing. I recall you coming on later on Maestro and describing the scene that night....I'm still a little pi$$ed when I did my breakdown here on 4m I forgot to put Harris down for a victory because I do remember that night like it was yesterday.....dammed old age :)

You do a tremendous job with the info you provide on this site - I've been enjoying it for years. I have to agree with Mud Maestro, that night the 1/4-mile was one-groove from the drop of the first green to the final checkers. It was pretty cool seeing the hometown boy hold off Jimmy Mars for the 10 Grand, though.
