CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 3 of the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season will feature six races in five different states with one race on Friday and five events on Saturday. One track will be hosting their 2015 season opener for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Late Models.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS will host the lone Friday night race, and NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS will be looking to remain “Mr. Perfect” and “Mr. Undefeated” in series competition, as he will be looking for his third straight win at Hattiesburg, and his fourth straight series win driving the Strength Center Special.

Camden Speedway in Camden, TN will also open their NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season on Saturday night. Jackson Motor Speedway in Jackson, MS was scheduled to host their season opener this Saturday night, but their $1,000-to-win race has been rained out.

Also in action with Saturday night NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 3 events will be Battleground Race Park in Highlands, TX, St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA, Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL, and Whynot Motorsports Park in Meridian, MS.

Several drivers among the Top 10 in the current NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings will be looking for good finishes in Week 3 competition in an effort to break the several ties for position among the top point fund-paying positions.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL and Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS are tied for the second spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 98 points apiece. Joiner has one win and two top five finishes in two starts driving the Three Trade Consultants Special and Lee has one win, and three top five finishes in three races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.

Mark Clifton of Brewton, AL is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 95 points after two top five finishes in two races in the Carboline Special. A pair of former NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions are tied for the fifth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 94 points apiece.

The 2007 South Region Champion Frank Wilson of Milton, FL has one top five finish and two top ten finishes in two races driving the Wilson Lumber Trak-Star. Three-time West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS has two top five finishes in two starts in the Byrams’s Trucking GRT.

There is a three-way tie for the seventh spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings among Josh Huss of Flomaton, AL, Greg Dedwylder of Vossburg, MS, and 13-year-old Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL with 92 points apiece.

Huss has two top five finishes in two NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races driving the Huss Racing Warrior, and Dedwylder has competed in a series-leading four races with one top five finish and three top ten finishes in the Bumpers By Goose GRT.

Skinner is also third in the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for drivers 18 years of age and younger after one top five finish and two top ten finishes in two NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series races driving the Skinner Body Shop CVR.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS rounds out the top ten of the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 91 points. Daspit has turned in one top five finish and two top ten finishes in two races driving the Billy Riels Racing Special.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
