NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division officials heard an appeal on Tuesday from driver Sam Maxie of Vancleave, MS regarding his fine and suspension resulting from lab reports of samples of his rear tires came back showing they had been chemically altered. Maxie was originally disqualified from the April 11 race at Whynot Motorsports Park, fined $500 and suspended for 30 days.

As a result of the appeal, NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division officials discovered that while the rules state, and have stated under Tires and Wheels, Paragraph 5 since 2013, that no chemically altering of tires will be allowed, the disqualification of the win in the said race with forfeiture of prize money and points will stand.

However, due to a clerical error, the fine and punishment amendment of the rule was not published in the rules shown on the series web site at www.nesmithracing.com, therefore, NeSmith/AR Bodies Street Stock Division officials have removed the fine and suspension for Mr. Maxie, but he will remain on probation for the remainder of the 2015 racing season. The fines and suspension portion of the rule has since been added and is currently in affect.
