Todd Coffman Captures Jay Construction and Restoration 40 Win at Ponderosa Speedway

Junction City, KY-April 24, 2015- Ponderosa Speedway would return to action on Friday evening and Todd Coffman of Parksville, KY would record the victory in the Jay Construction and Restoration 40 for the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Models and take home a $2.000 payday. In other action, James Rice of Verona, KY would claim his first-ever Super Late Model victory by scoring the win in the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event, while Jason Bell of London, KY would be victorious in the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclone division feature event. Rain showers would move in and force postponement of the Sweet Beans and Things Modified and Lawson Tractor Sales and Service KDRA Super Stock feature events, with both of those feature events taking place next Friday May 1.

Todd Coffman would roll to the race lead from his outside pole starting position and survive four caution periods and a couple of close calls in lapped traffic to win his second event of the season with the Premier Integrity Solutions Pro Late Model division by leading all 40 laps of the Jay Construction and Restoration 40. Coffman’s victory would come behind the wheel of the Sharon Coffman owned Auto Connection/Self Service Storage/The Muffler Shop/Coffman’s Photography/Todd’s Body Shop/Harrod Farms sponsored #35 Rocket Chassis powered by a Hendren GM604 Crate Engine. Hoosier state driver Adam Bowman would take runner-up honors, while Zane Powell would finish in the third position. Dustin Linville would finish fourth after starting tenth, while Elliott Despain would nip Derek Rogers in a photo-finish for fifth. Rogers would head up the second five at the finish, followed by 14th starting Chris Johnson, Chris Fair, Tommy Carlton, and 18th starting Darrell Gaddis. Eighteen entries would see Gary Yeager as top qualifier at 14.494 seconds, with heat race wins going to Conner Meade, Coffman, and Bowman.

A few light rain showers started falling as the Good Neighbor Pharmacy Super Late Model main event rolled trackside, with Justin Rattliff leading the opening circuit of the event before James Rice would take the lead on lap 2. Showers started to pick up by lap 8 and the race, scheduled for 25 laps, would be cautioned with 13 circuits scored as the track was becoming very slippery at that point. After some discussion by track officials, the event was called complete and Rice would score his first-ever Super Late Model feature checkered flag aboard the Kuzman Racing owned H.E.A.T. Inc./Bennett Excavating/Poske Performance Parts/Extreme Sportswear sponsored #11R Club 29 Race Car sporting power from a Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Race Engine. Rattliff would be credited with second place, while Victor Lee, Michael Chilton, and Tripp Gerrald completed the top five. The remainder of the top ten were Cody Mahoney, Ernie Cordier, Jeff Rawlings, Timmy Taylor, and Robert Luttrell, Jr. Eleven entries saw Mahoney as top qualifier at 14.218 seconds, while heat wins fell to Rice and Rattliff.

Jason Bell would get past Josh (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)erson with two laps remaining to pick up the win in the Hardees Mini-Cup/Cyclone division main event behind the wheel of his CheapGoods.com sponsored #97 machine.
