CARTERSVILLE, GA – Week 6 of the 27-week NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series 2015 season will have a light schedule due to the NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series Touring Division taking the grand stage on Talladega NASCAR Weekend this Friday night and Saturday night at Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL. There will be just four races on the Week 6 schedule.

Hattiesburg Speedway in Hattiesburg, MS and Salina Speedway in Salina, KS will be action with NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Week 6 Friday night races and Greenville Speedway in Greenville, MS and St. Tammany Raceway in Lacombe, LA will be in action on Saturday night with Week 6 events.

Beginning this week, in addition to the point standings, we will also compute a driver’s Weekly Point Average, or WPA, to give even a better idea of where they stand taking the number of weeks they have raced into consideration. A driver may be high in the point standings solely based on the number of weeks they have raced. A driver may be lower in the point standings, but have a higher WPA simply because they have raced less weeks.

Michael Arnold of Hattiesburg, MS is the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point leader with 240 point after five weeks of racing and a WPA of 48 out of a possible 50. Arnold is tied for the highest WPA with the driver that is second in the point standings, Cliff Williams of Star, MS. Williams has raced for four weeks, and has 192 points, 48 points less than Arnold, but also has a WPA of 48.

The drivers that are second through seventh in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings have a WPA based on four weeks of racing. Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS is third in the standings with 191 points, and the third highest WPA among the 11 Top 10 drivers in the point standings at 47.75.

The 2013 NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series National Champion Noah Daspit of Kiln, MS is fourth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 182 points and the eighth highest WPA at 45.5. Justin McRee of Woodstock, AL is fifth with 173 points and the ninth highest WPA at 43.25.

Nick Thrash of Meridian, MS and Dustin Boykin of Wiggins, MS are tied for the sixth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 172 points apiece and are tied for tenth highest WPA at 43.

Three-time NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series West Region Champion Lucky Keeton of Collinsville, MS is eighth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 143 points, but has the fourth highest WPA at 47.67 after three weeks of racing. The eighth, ninth, and tenth-place drivers in the point standings all have three weeks of competition.

Cruz Skinner of Oxford, AL is ninth in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series standings with 142 points and has the fifth-highest WPA at 47.3. The 13-year-old driver also leads the Sunoco Young Guns Challenge Series point standings for drivers 18 years of age and younger.

Joseph Joiner of Milton, FL and Monte Skinner of Saraland, AL are tied for the tenth spot in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series point standings with 139 points apiece and they also share the sixth highest WPA among the Top 10 drivers at 46.3. Joiner also leads the NeSmith Panhandle Challenge Series point standings.

Drivers in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series will compete against each other nationally using a points system that will count their best 14 weekly point totals over a 27-week season from March 23 through September 27. The $20,000 National point fund will pay $10,000 to the National Champion and pay back to the Top 10 drivers in the final point standings.

NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series competitors have the option of two different economical Chevrolet Performance Circle Track Engines to compete with. The aluminum-head 400 horsepower 604 engine costs $5,795 and the steel-head 350 horsepower Chevrolet Performance 602 Circle Track Engine with a 100-pound weight break costs $3,495.
